(July 2010) Little Rock charter schools reported no discipline incidents but 26 of 34 local traditional public schools reported weapons incidents, staff assaults or student assaults, according to a Policy Foundation review of 2009 Arkansas School Performance Report cards.

 

Ten open enrollment charter schools are in Little Rock. (1) They are the Arkansas Virtual Academy and Junior High, Covenant Keepers College Preparatory Charter School, Dreamland Academy of Performing and Communication Arts, ESTEM Elementary Charter School, ESTEM Middle Charter School, ESTEM High Charter School, LISA Academy, LISA Academy High School, and Little Rock Preparatory Academy. The report cards show public charter schools reported no discipline incidents.

Eight Little Rock School District elementary schools reported no discipline incidents in 2009, the reports show. They are the Bale, Fulbright, Gibbs,

M.L. King, McDermott, Western Hills, Wilson and Woodruff schools.

Performance report cards include Indicator 4 (Discipline), which shows “the percentage of students who have been expelled from school during the school year,” “the percentage of school-related weapon or assault incidents involving students that occurred at the school” and those directed at staff. (2)

Little Rock District schools at all levels reported discipline incidents. The highest percentage of weapons incidents (0.6%) were at Pulaski Heights Elementary and Cloverdale Middle School. The highest percentage of staff assaults (0.7%) were at Dunbar Magnet Middle School and McClellan Magnet High School. The highest percentage of student assaults were at Pulaski Heights Elementary (1.6%), Dunbar (1.2%), and Baseline Elementary (1.1%).
