(May 2018) Eleven Arkansas state agencies have amended their mission or core value statements to advance the idea of efficiency in their operations, according to public records. The Efficiency Project, a Policy Foundation project made the recommendation in a 2016 report.

 

The departments are Assessment Coordination; Aeronautics; Community Correction; Correction; Emergency Management; Environmental Quality; Finance and Administration; State Bank; Agriculture; Education; and Workforce Services.  The amended statements are listed as follows:

 

            Arkansas Assessment Coordination Department

 

Vision: ACD’s vision is to continually seek improvement in the ad valorem tax system by efficiently and responsibly leveraging ACD resources to illuminate and simplify the Arkansas property tax system

 

            Arkansas Department of Aeronautics

 

Mission: “To efficiently promote a safe environment for pilots while improving airports to better serve Arkansas communities and industry in order to facilitate economic growth.”

 

            Arkansas Department of Community Correction

 

Mission: “To enhance public safety by enforcing state laws and court mandates through community partnerships and evidence-based programs that are cost efficient and hold offenders accountable while engaging them in opportunities to become law-abiding, productive citizens.”

 

            Arkansas Department of Correction

 

Vision: The vision of the Arkansas Department of Correction is to be an honorable and professional organization through ethical and innovative leadership at all levels, providing cost efficient, superior correctional services that return productive people to the community.

 

            Arkansas Department of Emergency Management

 

Mission: The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management provides efficient and effective state level leadership, resources and coordination for a comprehensive all-hazards approach to emergencies and disasters impacting Arkansas.

 

            Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality

 

Mission:  Effectively and efficiently protecting, enhancing, and restoring Arkansas’s environment  by advancing air, water, land, and energy solutions.

 

            Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration

 

Vision: Bring appropriate, innovative, and efficient operating practices to Arkansas government.

 

            State Bank Department

 

The mission of ASBD is to maintain a legal and regulatory structure for Arkansas’s financial industry. This structure provides the public with convenient, safe and competitive banking, which fosters economic development within this State. Our mission is accomplished through efficient allocation of available human and other resources existing in our Examination, Information Technology and Administrative Services Divisions.

 

The following agencies listed efficiency as a “core value:”

 

Agriculture:  Efficiency – ensuring resources are used in the most effective and productive manner possible.

 

Education: Leveraging state resources in a wise, efficient, and productive manner.

 

Workforce Services: Leadership, Efficiency, Accountability, Integrity, Results, Transparency
