‘A’DISTRICTS IN FOUNDATION STUDIES HAVE FEWER
DISCIPLINE INCIDENTS THAN PULASKI SCHOOLS
(August 2010) Five ‘A’-rated Arkansas
school districts in four Policy Foundation studies have fewer discipline
incidents, with one exception than three in Pulaski County (Little Rock, North
Little Rock and the Pulaski County Special School District).
The five districts—Bentonville,
Fayetteville, Greenwood, Lakeside (Garland County) and Valley View—received ‘A’
grades in four consecutive Foundation Arkansas
School District Rankings reports.
The reports examined student performance on standardized national tests like
the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills and the Stanford Achievement Test in the
2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, and 2007-08 school years.
School performance report cards for
2009 (1)
for the five districts
reveal fewer discipline incidents than the Pulaski County districts, which
received lower grades between ‘C’ and ‘D’ grade range in the reports.
Fayetteville was the only ‘A’ district
with a higher percentage of discipline incidents in any category. (1) Report
cards can be accessed at the state Department of Education site (arkansased.org/) by clicking
“School Performance” under Other Sites, and choosing the NORMES School
Performance site (http://normessasweb.uark.edu/schoolperformance/) Little Rock charter schools reported no
discipline incidents in 2009.
